Missions

The British & International Sailors' Society

is an inter-denominational organisation of non-conformist churches that runs Seafarers' Centres and visits seafarers on aboard ship. Our Chaplains are always ready to provide advice and assistance irrespective of a person's belief or nationality.

The Mission to Seafarers

is a mission of the Anglican Church, that cares for the spiritual and practical welfare seafarers regardless of nationality or faith. Through our worldwide network of chaplains, staff and volunteers we visit them on their ships.

Apostleship of the Sea - Stella Maris

A Roman Catholic port ministry was developed in Glasgow in 1920 out of a concern about the lack of witness the Church was showing aboard ship. Two years later Pope Pius XI bestowed his blessings on the ministry and encouraged the Apostleship of the Sea to make its mission worldwide.

Deutsche Seemannsmission

The German sailor mission registered association (DSM), as independent dia.-conical mechanism part of the Evangelist church, cares for sailors in over 35 ports in 18 countries on all continents. It is Ansprechpartnerin for sailors of any origin, brings messages from the homeland, offers practical assistance and orientation and supports sailors with the keeping of its rights.

Harwich International Port

Harwich International Port (HWH) is one of the UK’s leading multi-purpose freight and passenger ports with excellent road and rail links to the Midlands, London and the South East. It is ideally located for North Sea freight and passenger traffic to and from Scandinavia and the Benelux countries, offering first class ro-ro, ferry, container and bulk operations.

Haven Authority

Harwich Haven Authority (HHA) was established by Act of Parliament in 1863 to safeguard the best natural haven on the east coast of England. Its jurisdiction covers the River Stour, the lower part of the River Orwell, Harwich Harbour and an area to seaward extending 12 nautical miles from the harbour entrance and covering 150 square miles.

Port of Felixstowe

The Port of Felixstowe is the UK's premier port - offering a comprehensive package of facilities to deep-sea, short-sea and feeder operators. A major hub for UK distribution and international transhipments, for many of the world's shipping lines.

HPH Port of Felixstowe

The Port of Felixstowe (PFL) is strategically located on the UK’s southeast coast. As the UK’s first purpose-built container handling facility, PFL is also the largest and busiest container port in the country. Felixstowe is within easy reach of the major ports of northwest Europe, and serves deep-sea, short-sea, feeder and transshipment operations.

Merchant Navy Welfare Bord

The Merchant Navy Welfare Board was established in 1948, although its predecessors date back to 1927. In summary its primary objects were and remain to: promote co-operation between organisations whose objects included the welfare of merchant seafarers and their dependents; establish minimum standards of shore accommodation for seafarers; advise on new and existing facilities,

Seafarers' Trust

The ITF Seafarers Trust was established by the ITF Executive Board in 1981 as a body with charitable status under UK law. It is dedicated to the spiritual, moral and physical welfare of seafarers irrespective of nationality, race or creed.

The Corporation of Trinity House

The safety of shipping, and the well being of seafarers, have been our concern since Henry VIII granted our charter in 1514. We have three functions: the General Lighthouse Authority for England & Wales; a charitable organisation for the safety, welfare and training of mariners; a Deep Sea Pilotage Authority for Northern European waters.WC
